I heard something interesting regarding ones health today. It went something like this: You can either pay more now and live a long, strong heathy life or pay more later in medical bills and being unable to function like you need to.
What are your thoughts and what does this statement mean to you?
WOD
“Tabata”
push up
squat
pull up
burpee
Toe to bar
10 things that happen when you begin CrossFit
I 100% agree with that comment. Being in an a field that deals with the sick on a constant basis I get to see first hand what happens when you don’t think of yourself or especially your health. I have read many good blogs, articles and book regarding today’s food and it always seems to come down to several things 1) remove WHEAT and most grains 2) remove bad fats 3) eat unprocessed or minimally processed foods. Pretty simple. Yes it does cost a bit more to eat this way but like was said yesterday in the gym, it is an investment into our future. We all seem to put money away for retirement, so wouldn’t it be nice to be healthy when we get there. OK my rant is over thanks for getting me fired up this morning Elijah.
Jason is a clown, but I like him, and his socks…great job yesterday. I’m always envious when I see people hit heavy weights and go deep in the squat, or simply just go deep in the squat…some day. The statement, to me, means striking balance and consistency in one’s life…..be sure to laugh & love, too.
Hey nooners….the PM’ers can hang, and you know it on Saturdays
Balance is good too. If you don’t have that you will never stick to something.
lol, deep squat, ditto!

Got it Kyle. We are now an official team.
I think an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure for sure, which translates to pay LESS now and feel better longer, or pay MORE later to feel ‘so-so’. There’s also the possibility that you’ll get taken out by a school bus or an asteroid, so I also think that balance and having some fun while you’re at it is also really important.
i like your point, sara! way to think like an economist. for sure there is an upfront cost for what we do (gym membership, grass fed beef, organic vegetables). it’s a great investment with promising returns. i work my ass off and make good food choices as a (hopeful) hedge against diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. as an unexpected bonus, i’ve built community and had A LOT of fun while pursuing better health. if an asteroid hit me tomorrow, i’d die happy.
great workout today! jenny, i am amazed how you continue to encourage me in the middle of a workout, when i can hardly talk. you’re a superstar! can’t wait to compete with you. coach, working out with you is not as bad as i thought it would be. i’m gonna getcha one of these days. haha. but seriously, you’re a good investment.
well said everyone take it from one who is getting older ( i didnt say old!! just older lets get that straight!!) its never to late to start thinking about your health but your mental well being also plays an important role in your health. for me crossfit has given me not only physical strength but has helped with my mental well being just feeling better about myself so thanks coach all the way around!!
today was a great work out!! good job 5:3 class you guys are great!!
Take it from me, i always use to eat like shit and half ass my workouts and i got cancer. that was a wake up call and i listened. Now i am all in trying to change my life. the people and lifestyle of crossfit is a life saver for me. I will make the investment.
Kyle that is some heavy stuff! I had no idea. I look forward to hearing your story. We can all learn from your fight and journey.
Does this mean I should go easy on you and not want to kick your butt so bad in the box? 🙂
